SUNI VI in Colorado Springs, CO
Thank you to everyone who attended SUNI VI. We had a wonderful time.
Here are some photos from the event, courtesy of Bob Bennion.
The theme for the event is FIFTY YEARS OF THE TIGER. While the Tiger is the featured car, all Rootes cars and drivers are welcome and encouraged to attend.
SUNI VI is on June 30 - July 4, 2014. When you arrive, you will find ample space to park your tow vehicles and trailers. Our Rootes vehicles will have their own area to park for the week we are there. Our hotel is the Colorado Springs Marriott (719-260-1800). We have signed the contract with the Marriott. See the Hotel page with updated rate information.
The area is bursting with attractions for the whole family, including such things as Pikes Peak and the Air Force Academy, along with many driving tours in the area. The auto cross will be held at PPIR raceway nearby. The auto cross is held on a large paved area at PPIR. In addition, we will be allowed some laps around the track following a pace car (so we do not get into too much trouble).
We will have a number of distinguished guests that will be spending SUNI time with us. Among those are Rosemary Smith, a renowned rally car driver, and Graham Robson, a noted automotive author who has written books on the Tiger.
Also in attendance will be a number of the historic Tigers including the No. 9 Lemans Tiger, the No. 192 Targa Floria Tiger, and the No. 74 Sports Car Forum Tiger.
In addition to the final banquet and other meals, we are planning a very special Anniversary dinner dedicated to celebrating the Milestone 50th Golden Anniversary of the Tiger. (If you have an idea to contribute to the celebration, please give me a call.)
For those wanting to add an extra day or so, SUNI starts the day after the world famous Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.
There are a number of chair and other positions where we need volunteers. Contact me if you'd like to get involved. Thanks and looking forward to seeing you in Colorado Springs!
